2020 Field Hockey season is open for players entering 1st - 6th grade. Please read carefully UYFH information below. Registration closes on Wednesday July 15th, 2020. You have ONE month from when registration opens to register your player.
Games and practices are contingent on it being deemed safe to open the fields for play. This involves the Uxbridge Board of Health and Massachusetts Governor Baker's plans to re open. We are closely monitoring the situation and will follow the guidance of local and state agencies as we prepare to make accommodations for safe play. The guidelines are changing all the time and UYFH will adhere to accordance with all the state and local requirements. **UYFH cannot guarantee that your player will not be exposed to COVID-19**
We ask that you keep in mind our current state is fluid and ever changing. Our first priority is the safety of players and coaches. If you are not comfortable with the guidelines and/or do not believe you and your player will be able to adhere to the guidelines, please take careful consideration before registration. We would love for all players to be able to participate but understand for various reasons this may not be possible this season.
How can I help prepare my player? Discuss Hygiene and social distancing protocols. There are ways to prepare your player about practicing social distancing including online resources through video or social stories. The urge to touch friends will be strong across all age groups. We need the parents' help to support and set expectations with players about the guidelines. In person smiles, cheers and waves will need to replace close physical space. Players will not share equipment, snacks, or water. Practices will run one hour.
Registration Fee: $40 NON-refundable individual fee or $50 NON-refundable family fee (families with more than one player). UYFH has made the decision to lessen our registration fee this year due to COVID - 19 and the uncertainty it brings. Whether the season is one week, one month, or a complete season with games this will be the fee for the 2020 season.
Player Jersey: We will not be providing players with a new reversible jersey this year. If your player has one from a previous year they can use that. If your player needs a new one there is a $20 fee in addition to registration fee. If you plan to order a replacement jersey, in registration form please specify size. We will let you know when payment for the jersey is due.
Face Coverings: currently we do not have specific guidelines for face coverings for fall season, however, we do want to share a recommendation from a parent/coach should they be required: “fandanas” or “neck gaiters” where the material is worn around a player’s neck and when instructed by a coach, they can raise the material up and over their mouth and nose when social distancing cannot be done during a certain drill.
Commonwealth Cup Tournament: Invited age groups to play at the end of the season will require an extra fee to be determined.
Uxbridge Youth Field Hockey is part of the Commonwealth Field Hockey League. Teams will practice / have games 1 - 3 times per week, depending on the division. Games will be played at McCloskey Field and area towns.
